250 x SANParks Tourism Monitors Programme 2025 Now Open

The Department of Tourism has officially opened applications for the 2025/26 SANParks Tourism Monitors Programme. This exciting Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) opportunity offers 250 positions to unemployed youth across South Africa’s National Parks.

The programme aims to improve tourism safety and develop skills in tourism and conservation.


📝 About the Programme

  • Contract Duration: 7 Months

  • Stipend: R200 per day (± R8,000 per month)

  • Structure: Theoretical training + practical field experience

  • Focus: Youth employment, environmental education, tourism development

  • Inclusivity: Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply


✅ Key Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens (certified ID required)

  • Be unemployed youth aged 18–35

  • Have at least a matric certificate or equivalent

  • Live within 40km–100km of a participating park (proof of residence required — no affidavits)

  • Be fluent in English

  • Be physically fit and flexible with working hours, including weekends and holidays

  • Own transport is required

  • Tertiary qualifications in tourism or environmental studies are an advantage

  • Only one applicant per household may apply

  • Addo Elephant National Park

  • Golden Gate Highlands National Park

  • Kruger National Park (Marula & Nxanatseni Regions)

  • Table Mountain National Park (Boulders, Tokai, Cape Point, Newlands, Silvermine)

  • Tsitsikamma, Wilderness, Agulhas, Bontebok, West Coast

  • Karoo, Richtersveld, Namaqua, Tankwa Karoo, Camdeboo

  • Mountain Zebra, Mapungubwe, Kgalagadi, Mokala, Augrabies, Marakele


🏃‍♀️ Fitness & Interview Process

Shortlisted candidates may undergo:

  • 2.4 km run

  • 25 push-ups

  • 25 sit-ups (within a set time)

  • Formal interview

  • Medical and criminal background check
