Purpose of the Role
Support customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a smooth and accurate transaction process. Maintain high standards of cash handling, security, and customer interaction to provide a world-class shopping experience.
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 / Matric
-
Minimum 6 months’ cashier/till operations experience
-
Computer literate (MS Office)
-
Strong numerical skills
-
Proficient in English (written and oral)

Basic customer service skills
-
Willing and able to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
-
Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
-
Establish professional customer relationships
-
Report customer feedback to supervisors or management
-
Maintain customer turnover hourly rate
-
Stay informed on current sales and promotions
-
Manage cash flow accurately and securely
-
Ensure all price changes and voids are supervisor approved
-
Handle transactions and payments (cash, card, vouchers, coupons)
-
Process loyalty cards, including accelerator partners’ programs
-
Place cash safely in the drop safe as per SOPs
-
Protect login details and ensure password security
-
Scan and pay for all outgoing stock/items/scripts
-
Maintain confidentiality of daily takings
-
Report suspicious behavior immediately

Answer customer queries about merchandise

Comply with Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
