Job Description:
We are seeking a Cook to join our team in Sasolburg. The Cook will be responsible for general cooking duties, preparing meals using standardized recipes, and ensuring that food preparation and kitchen sanitation comply with health and safety standards. The successful candidate will also manage kitchen inventory, assist in menu development, and contribute to improving the operational efficiency of the kitchen.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Take customer orders and prepare food according to their specifications.

  • Cook a variety of foods, including meats, fish, vegetables, gravies, cereals, soups, fruits, and bakery products.

  • Prepare food for special diets, following recipes provided by qualified personnel.

  • Assist in training other kitchen staff, including students and food service workers.

  • Plan and manage work orders to ensure timely completion and service.

  • Prepare and cook salads, desserts, grilled, fried, and other items as required.

  • Notify supervisors about food and supply needs and assist with checking in deliveries.

  • Maintain accurate food production records and ensure kitchen cleanliness.

  • Ensure that refrigerators and freezers are properly secured and organized.

  • Serve food and maintain sanitation and safety standards.

  • Report equipment malfunctions and food quality concerns to the kitchen manager.

  • Use standardized recipe cards for food preparation.

  • Assist with functions as required, including setup, food preparation, service, and cleanup.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Independent worker who can manage tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers and kitchen personnel.

  • Customer-focused with attention to detail.

  • Effective multitasking skills to handle multiple orders simultaneously.

  • Ability to work for long periods in a standing position.

  • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation techniques.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Matric (Grade 12).

  • Relevant culinary or kitchen qualification.

  • 2-4 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
