Ivanplats (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is developing the Platreef Project, a world-class palladium, rhodium, nickel, copper, and gold mine near Mokopane. The mine uses large-scale mechanised underground mining methods and state-of-the-art technology, setting the standard as the “Mine of the Future”.
🎯 Role Purpose
The Salvage Yard Supervisor will oversee the technical, operational, and safety aspects of the salvage yard, ensuring quality control, efficiency, and cost optimization while managing materials, equipment, and staff.
✅ Minimum Requirements

Grade 12
-
Trade Test Certificate or equivalent experience
-
Project Management skills
-
Extensive technical knowledge
-
Experience in risk management, reporting, and analysis
-
3–5 years’ experience in quality control in a mining environment
-
3–5 years’ supervisory experience in mining/engineering operations
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
-
Ensure repair registers and reporting comply with standards and guidelines
-
Conduct technical evaluations of suppliers and delivered products
-
Monitor the repairs process, warranty claims, and adherence to OEM standards
-
Optimize the use of material codes and standardize parts for cost savings
-
Evaluate scrap condition for resale or parts utilization
-
Maintain safety, quality, and productivity in salvage operations
-
Manage material movement, yard clean-up, and contractor loading
-
Oversee materials handling equipment and reclaim usable items
-
Ensure rotable stock keeping and proper documentation
