Overview

Accelerate is a youth development program in either hospitality management or professional cookery that spans over a period of 3 years. It is aimed at South African nationals and designed to drive engagement and interest in the hospitality sector.

The Orientation year gives candidates practical experience in hotel operations before applying for the full 3-year Accelerate Program. Completing the Orientation year does not guarantee acceptance into the full program.


Job Summary

During the Orientation year:

  • Hospitality Management Trainees work in all hotel departments.

  • Professional Cookery Trainees rotate through all kitchen sections.

Trainees are expected to follow company policies, maintain professionalism, deliver excellent guest service, and assist in hotel operations.


Candidate Profile

Education & Requirements:

  • South African citizen by birth

  • Between 18 and 22 years old

  • Matric (Grade 12) certificate or NQF/NCV Level 4 equivalent

  • Passed all 7 subjects (preferably 50% or higher in each)

  • Applicants must not hold any post-Matric qualifications

After Orientation – 3-Year Accelerate Program

If accepted, trainees will rotate between Marriott hotels across South Africa each year, gaining hands-on experience and completing formal studies in:

  • Hospitality Management: Food & Beverage → Rooms Division → Management

  • Professional Cookery: Cold Food → Hot Food → Management

Graduates are expected to work for Marriott for at least one year after completing the program.
