Purpose of the Job
Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on grain silo plant components and related grain handling machinery to ensure maximum operational efficiency and compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance, Installation, and Construction:

Mechanical maintenance and breakdown repairs on grain silo plant components (bucket elevators, conveyor belts, cleaners, mobile hoppers, stackers, chutes, valves, compressors, pneumatic actuators, etc.)

Conveyor belt alignment/training
-
Maintenance/repair of hydraulic components (hydropacks, cylinders)
-
Fit attachments/tools onto production equipment
-
Reshape metal work pieces and balance rotating equipment
Troubleshooting and System Maintenance:
-
Run tests to determine root causes of malfunctions
-
Adhere to SANS standards during maintenance
-
Provide technical advice and solutions
-
Coordinate resources for maintenance
-
Upgrade, maintain, and replace assets
Employee Management:
-
Support, coach, and mentor artisan assistants
-
Supervise performance and provide on-the-job training
Requirements
-
National Senior Certificate
-
N3 in Engineering or Trade Certificate in relevant field
-
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Maintenance Fitter

Technical knowledge of equipment and machinery
-
Strong communication and time management skills
