Overview:
St Dunstan’s College is seeking a dynamic and innovative Deputy Head (Academics) for their Preparatory School. The successful candidate will join the Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the academic program, supporting curriculum innovation, and fostering staff development. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the academic programme ensuring the delivery of a rigorous and engaging curriculum.

  • Set academic targets and monitor student outcomes to drive continuous improvement.

  • Lead and manage academic timetables, internal assessments, and reporting.

  • Drive curriculum development aligned with IEB standards and international best practices.

  • Mentor and support teaching staff through ongoing professional development.

  • Analyse academic data to implement targeted interventions for learner support.

  • Coordinate academic events, including prize-givings and parent-teacher meetings.

  • Support the academic induction of new staff and pupils.

  • Model exemplary teaching practice and actively contribute to the extra-mural programme.

  • Stay current with educational trends and contribute to pedagogical innovation and curriculum design.


Requirements:

  • A recognised teaching qualification suitable for Intermediate Phase education.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in academic leadership or curriculum management.

  • SACE registration (South African Council for Educators).

  • Experience in an ISASA school and/or with the IEB curriculum is advantageous.

  • A track record of academic innovation and a commitment to professional growth.

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).

  • A cooperative, team-oriented mindset and commitment to collaborative leadership.

  • A commitment to upholding and contributing to the Christian values and Anglican ethos of St Dunstan’s College.
