The Opportunity
We are seeking a Part-Time Librarian (Fixed Contract) to support our Preparatory School’s dynamic learning environment. The successful candidate will cultivate a love for reading, enhance teaching and learning through well-managed library resources, and oversee a multimedia-rich library space that inspires collaboration and curiosity.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain a well-organised, welcoming school library

Foster a love of reading by curating engaging collections of children’s literature

Support educators in integrating library resources into the curriculum

Encourage and guide students in independent reading and research

Promote information literacy and digital citizenship across grade levels

Administer library systems and maintain a resource-rich, dynamic environment
Minimum Requirements
-
Relevant professional qualification in Library Science, Education, or a related field

SACE registration (South African Council for Educators)

Strong knowledge of children’s literature and age-appropriate materials

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Strong organisational and management skills with attention to detail
