Position Summary

The Visual & Performing Arts Teacher will be responsible for teaching Music, Drama, and Dance to learners from Pre-Reception to Standard 7, both in class groups and individual instrument lessons. The role involves developing pupils’ artistic and performance abilities while leading key school cultural and musical events.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach Music, Drama, and Dance to all students (Pre-Reception – Standard 7)

  • Provide both class teaching and individual instrument instruction

  • Play and teach three or more musical instruments and music theory

  • Assist teachers in weekly assemblies by selecting songs, preparing music, and attending rehearsals

  • Manage and maintain instruments in the VPA department

  • Organize and direct school concerts, musicals, and performances

  • Lead choir, orchestra, and band rehearsals and performances

  • Plan and execute termly musical concerts, the Art Soirée, Orchestra & Band Festival, and Carols by Candlelight

  • Collaborate in Junior and Senior Productions, Family Fun Day, Valedictory, and Prize-Giving events

  • Prepare students for Trinity College London and Rockstar exams

  • Maintain and operate sound and video equipment; liaise with the maintenance team for event setups

  • Play an active role in school marketing and promotional events


Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant teaching qualification or Music degree

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Visual & Performing Arts teaching role

  • Proven leadership and management skills

  • Innovative, creative teaching style and passion for the arts

  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to teach across diverse musical styles and genres

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team
