Position Summary
The Second Additional Language Educator (Sign Language) for the Senior and FET Phases will be responsible for teaching, assessing, and supporting scholars in mastering reading, writing, and communication in Sign Language as a Second Additional Language. The educator will ensure that all students meet high academic and behavioural standards while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Reports To: Assistant Principal or Principal
Key Responsibilities

Plan, teach, and co-teach engaging face-to-face and distance lessons

Collaborate with grade-level and content area teams to design rigorous, inquiry-based learning experiences

Develop and implement individualised learning and behaviour plans

Administer formative and termly assessments to monitor and analyse scholar progress

Support both low-performing and high-achieving scholars through targeted interventions

Lead Character Quotient (CQ) sessions to promote social and emotional development

Participate in career, tertiary pathways, and place-based education initiatives

Implement SPARK’s culture and behaviour management systems

Communicate professionally with parents, colleagues, and stakeholders

Attend Saturday events, parent meetings, and school community functions

Adhere to child protection, anti-bullying, and health and safety policies

Promote SPARK Schools’ mission, vision, and values in all interactions
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

English fluency
-
Sign Language fluency / signing ability
-
Completed B.Ed. or PGCE in Second Additional Language (Senior & FET Phase – Sign Language)

SACE registration (required)

Clear criminal record
