Position Overview

Clifton School is seeking a highly motivated, qualified, and experienced educator to take on the role of Subject Head for Business Studies for Grades 8 to 12. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership in managing the department while also fostering a love for Business Studies among students. This position offers a great opportunity to contribute to curriculum development, enhance teaching practices, and ensure the continued success of the Business Studies department.


Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Department Management: Manage the Business Studies department, providing guidance and support to colleagues while overseeing the effective delivery of the curriculum.

  • Teaching & Curriculum Delivery: Deliver Business Studies lessons for Grades 8-12, ensuring alignment with the IEB Business Studies curriculum.

  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and review of the curriculum to ensure it meets academic standards and student needs.

  • Assessment & Student Support: Oversee assessments, provide constructive feedback to students, and ensure that they are well-prepared for exams, including Matric.

  • Co-curricular Involvement: Actively engage in and contribute to the co-curricular life of the school, supporting students beyond the classroom.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other subject heads, teachers, and school management to promote a collaborative, positive, and effective teaching environment.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Teaching Qualification: An appropriate degree and SACE registration are required.

  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in teaching Business Studies at the high school level (Grades 8-12).

    • IEB experience is an advantage but not a prerequisite.

    • Matric marking experience is an advantage.

    • Experience in curriculum development and a solid understanding of the IEB Business Studies curriculum.

  • Leadership Experience: Previous experience in department management or a similar leadership role would be beneficial.

  • Creativity & Energy: The ideal candidate should be energetic, creative, and passionate about the subject.
