Position Overview

St Stithians College is seeking a passionate, qualified, and experienced Sesotho Teacher to join the Girls’ Preparatory school. The position is full-time, beginning January 2026, and will require an individual who is committed to delivering high-quality teaching to Grade 3-7 students while embracing the ethos of the school. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the academic, co-curricular, and pastoral life of the school.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching & Learning:

    • Teach Sesotho to Grade 3-7 students, ensuring an engaging and progressive curriculum that aligns with the South African education standards.

    • Implement innovative and effective teaching methods, integrating IT and digital tools to enhance learning.

  • Co-Curricular Contribution:

    • Actively contribute to the extramural programme of the school, encouraging students to participate in a range of activities beyond the classroom.

  • Relationship Building:

    • Foster positive and respectful relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

    • Engage with parents on campus, addressing any concerns and working collaboratively to support students’ growth.

  • Team Collaboration & Professional Development:

    • Work as part of a dynamic and accomplished team, collaborating with colleagues across different schools on campus.

    • Commit to continuous professional development and embrace a future-oriented approach to teaching.

  • School Ethos & Pastoral Care:

    • Contribute to the overall ethos of the school, upholding its values and supporting the pastoral care system, which may involve duties outside of regular school hours.

    • Promote diversity and inclusion in alignment with St Stithians College’s strategy.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualification:

    • A suitable professional qualification in education, with a strong focus on Sesotho.

  • Experience:

    • At least 5 years of teaching experience, particularly in Grade 3-7.

    • Proven ability to integrate IT into teaching and learning practices.

  • Skills & Attributes:

    • Strong passion for teaching and an ability to inspire and engage students.

    • Progressive understanding of the South African curriculum and global trends in education.

    • Flexible, innovative, and able to embrace change in a fast-paced environment.

    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team.

  • SACE Registration & Clearances:

    • Proof of SACE registration and a sexual offender’s clearance certificate.
