About the Kropz Bursary Programme:

Kropz is offering a bursary programme for students from the Saldanha Bay Municipality who are pursuing studies in fields aligned with the mining and minerals sector. The Kropz Elandsfontein Bursary aims to support local learners in accessing tertiary education and acquiring skills that are critical to the mining industry.

Successful candidates will need to sign a study agreement and maintain good academic performance throughout their studies.


Fields of Study Covered:

Bursaries will be awarded for studies in 2026 in the following fields:

  • Accounting

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Environmental Science

  • Geology

  • Health and Safety Management

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Metallurgical Engineering

  • Mining

These fields directly align with the needs of Kropz’s mining operations, particularly at their Elandsfontein project.


Eligibility Requirements:

To be considered for the Kropz Bursary 2026, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Residency: Must reside within Saldanha Bay Municipality in the Western Cape.

  • Matric Status: Currently in Matric or already completed Matric.

  • Academic Requirements: A minimum of 65% in English and Mathematics.

  • Study Intentions: Intend to study towards one of the approved fields of study in 2026 at an accredited South African institution (university or college).

  • Other Bursary Funding: Must NOT be receiving any other bursary funding.

  • Family Connections: Must NOT be related to any employees of Kropz or its contractors/business partners.

Preference will be given to:

  • Students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

  • Applicants who are pursuing studies in the preferred study fields listed by Kropz.


Required Supporting Documents:

When applying, you must submit clear, certified copies (certified within the last 3 months) of the following documents:

  • South African ID document (certified copy).

  • Most recent academic record/statement of results (certified).

  • Proof of enrolment or acceptance letter from a tertiary institution (if available, certified).

  • Proof of permanent residential address (certified).

  • Parents’ or guardians’ ID documents (certified).

  • Parents’ or guardians’ proof of household income (certified):

    • IRP5 or payslips if employed.

    • Affidavit if unemployed.
