Job Overview:
Curro Holdings is looking to appoint a full-time Afrikaans FAL Teacher (Grades 8 to 12) at Curro DigiED Victory Park, Johannesburg CBD. The role involves teaching Afrikaans First Additional Language (FAL) to high school students in the FET phase and coordinating related subjects as per the Curro curriculum. The teacher will be responsible for teaching, knowledge transfer, skills development, and fostering positive attitudes among learners.
Key Performance Areas:

Teaching duties: Plan and deliver lessons using modern-day tools and methods; set up workbooks and track student progress.

Term Planning: Develop, implement, monitor, and adjust the term plan based on school activities, exams, and assessments. Ensure that learning materials are differentiated to accommodate barriers to learning.

Baseline Assessments: Create and assess baseline assessments to evaluate students’ knowledge and suggest recommendations for subject choices, teaching methods, and remedial work.

Classroom Management: Set up an optimal classroom environment, manage discipline, and communicate effectively with students and parents.

Assessments and Homework: Manage formal and continuous assessments, including moderation, revision, and supervision of homework.

Extramural Activities: Plan and manage extracurricular activities and school outings.

Tutoring and Extra Lessons: Provide one-on-one tutoring support and extra lessons as required.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:
-
BEd, BA degree, or PGCE in FET phase education.

An honours degree in a relevant subject is advantageous.

Experience:
-
Minimum 3 years of experience as an FET phase teacher.

Knowledge of the IEB curriculum is required.

Skills:

Strong facilitation, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.

Excellent communication, organizational, and planning abilities.

Willingness and ability to work extended hours and weekends.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

SACE-registered and a clear criminal record.
