Primary School Intermediate Phase Teacher (IsiZulu FAL) – Curro Oakdene

About the Role:

Curro Holdings is looking for a full-time Intermediate Phase teacher for IsiZulu FAL (First Additional Language) to teach Grades 4 to 7 at Curro Oakdene in Johannesburg North, starting in January 2026. This role involves teaching IsiZulu FAL as well as other subjects in the Curro curriculum for the intermediate phase. The teacher will focus on lesson planning, teaching, assessments, and fostering learners’ academic growth, while promoting positive attitudes towards learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Lesson Planning & Teaching: Plan and deliver engaging IsiZulu FAL lessons using modern teaching tools and strategies.
Assessment Management: Develop, implement, and manage assessments (formal and continuous), including revision packs and moderation.
Classroom Management: Create an optimal classroom environment for learning, managing discipline and communication with learners and parents.
Term Planning: Review and adjust term plans to support the learning pace, making necessary changes based on assessments and school activities.
Homework & Peer Marking: Plan and manage subject homework, revisions, and peer marking systems.
Extracurricular Activities: Participate in organizing and managing extramural activities and outings.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: BEd with a focus on Intermediate Phase Teaching.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience teaching in the Intermediate Phase.
Curriculum Knowledge: Strong understanding of the CAPS curriculum.
Skills:
- Proven skills in facilitation, problem-solving, and report writing.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
SACE Registration: Must be SACE-registered.
Criminal Record: Must have a clear criminal record.
