About the Role:
Curro Holdings is seeking a full-time Afrikaans FAL teacher for the Senior Phase (Grades 7-9) at Northern Academy in Polokwane. This role involves teaching Afrikaans as a First Additional Language (FAL), following the Curro and IEB curricula. The teacher will be responsible for fostering a positive learning environment, developing students’ language skills, and enhancing their overall academic growth through active teaching and continuous assessment.
Key Responsibilities:

Lesson Planning & Delivery:
-
Plan and deliver engaging Afrikaans FAL lessons using modern tools and teaching methods.

Develop and manage workbooks, and assess student progress regularly.

Classroom Management & Term Planning:
-
Develop, implement, and adjust term plans based on assessments and school activities.
-
Create a productive and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.

Assessments & Homework:
-
Set and manage formal and continuous assessments.
-
Oversee homework assignments, moderation processes, and provide thorough feedback.

Extramural Activities & Support:
-
Plan and manage extracurricular activities, outings, and events.
-
Offer additional tutoring and extra lessons to students who require individual support.

Qualifications & Experience:
-
Education:
-
BEd, BA, or PGCE in Senior Phase education (Honours in relevant subject area advantageous).

Experience:
-
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Senior Phase Afrikaans FAL teacher.

Curriculum Knowledge:
-
Strong understanding of the IEB curriculum for Afrikaans FAL.

Skills:
-
Excellent facilitation, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.

Strong communication, organizational, and planning abilities.

Other Requirements:
-
SACE registration.
-
Clear criminal record.
-
Willing to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.
