Position Overview:
Hermitage House is seeking a permanent Foundation Phase/Intermediate Teacher who will also take on the role of Sports Coordinator. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, qualified teacher who is fluent in both English and Afrikaans. The role includes teaching across both the Foundation Phase (Grades R–3) and Intermediate Phase (Grades 4–7), and managing the school’s sports program.
Key Responsibilities:

Teaching Responsibilities:

Teach and lead classes across Foundation Phase and Intermediate Phase, ensuring the curriculum is well implemented.

Handle Afrikaans and English teaching for the specified phases.

Understand and apply curriculum and assessment protocols in daily teaching.

Sports Coordination:
-
Serve as the Sports Coordinator for the school.

Organize and manage all sports activities, events, and teams within the school.

Learner Understanding & Classroom Management:

Maintain a sound understanding of primary school learners, demonstrating a passion for teaching and developing young people.

Create a positive, stimulating learning environment with low pupil numbers per class.

Interpersonal Skills:

Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ensuring positive relationships with learners, staff, and parents.

School Ethos:

Uphold the Christian ethos and values of the school in all interactions and teaching practices.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor of Education (BEd) or PGCE.
-
SACE registration and Police clearance certificate.
-
Previous experience in independent education is advantageous but not essential.

Bilingual in both Afrikaans and English (both written and spoken).
