Role Overview

The Housemother provides maternal care for boarders and assists the House Director with pastoral care while managing the general housekeeping and daily operations of the boarding house. The position requires living on-site in a single-person flat within the boarding house.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Transporting and coordinating lifts for boys (PDP required)

  • Liaising with Nursing Sisters and House Director for medical appointments

  • Maintenance planning and follow-through within the house

  • Participation in the House Parent Committee

  • Organizing and attending house functions

  • Coordinating daily dietary requirements with the Catering Manager

  • Managing dormitory staff and sick boarders

  • Checking laundry and managing charges

  • Promoting hygiene standards for boarders

  • Distributing medication and attending Food Committee Meetings

  • Being contactable at all times (except official off-duty periods: two weekends/month & holidays)


Required Qualities & Skills

  • Enjoys interacting with boys, staff, and parents

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a team player

  • Computer literate

  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain one)

  • High energy level and physically fit

  • Detail-oriented with initiative
