About the Role
Roedean School seeks an experienced, supportive, and caring Matron to manage boarding students in a “home away from home” environment. The role is residential, requiring presence in the boarding house during term time. The Matron will work closely with teaching, administrative, and auxiliary staff to ensure boarders’ well-being, development, and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities

Promote the general progress and well-being of boarding students.

Create a safe, purposeful, and homely environment.

Foster boarders’ responsibility, independence, and personal growth.

Supervise daily routines, meals, and boarding house activities.
-
Liaise with pastoral care, teachers, and staff to ensure smooth operations.

Monitor academic progress and support boarders as needed.
-
Maintain compliance with fire/safety regulations.
-
Undertake administrative duties relevant to boarding.

Act as an advocate for boarding within the wider school community.
Required Qualifications & Experience

BEd or B Soc Science (advantageous).

Minimum 3 years experience in a middle or senior boarding role.

Knowledge of MS Office.

Clearance from Sexual Offenders and Child Protection Registry.

Valid driver’s license (PDP advantageous).

First-aid certificate (advantageous).
