Now, with their 2025–2027 internship programme, Stats SA is opening its doors to South African graduates hungry to gain experience, contribute to national development, and be part of something meaningful.
A Programme Rooted in Excellence
- Stats SA’s mission extends beyond just crunching numbers. It’s about understanding South Africa’s complex socio-economic landscape. To fulfill this mission, the organisation draws on five key competencies: scientific leadership, technological strength, logistical efficiency, political neutrality, and top-tier administration.
- Their internship programme isn’t just a formality—it’s a carefully crafted journey for unemployed graduates who want to make a tangible impact. Spanning 24 months, the internship aims to equip candidates with practical skills and workplace experience in various fields aligned with the core mandate of Stats SA.
Who Can Apply?
- Applicants must hold a completed National Diploma, Bachelor’s, Honours, or Master’s degree in specific disciplines. Importantly, they must not have participated in any public service internship programme before. This programme isn’t for those looking to tick boxes—it’s for driven individuals ready to roll up their sleeves and get involved in real work.
Graduates in the following fields are eligible:
- Statistics/Mathematics/Demography
- Data Science and Information Management
- Total Quality Management and Project Evaluation
- Monitoring & Evaluation
- Population Studies
- Computer Science and ICT
- Geography/GIS
- Economics/Econometrics
- Graphic Design and Visual Communication
- Communication/Journalism
- Language Practice/Linguistics
Internship Details
- Stipend: R94,326 per annum
- Location: Stats SA Head Office, Pretoria
- Duration: 24 months
Each intern will be placed according to their qualification in a relevant department and mentored by professionals who have years of experience in their field.
