What the Internship Involves

• The internship is based at the Durban North Campus and will involve supporting critical IT operations, including hardware, software, and user support.

Main Responsibilities

Lecture Room Support

• First-line support for computers and AV equipment
• Maintain operational projectors, motorized screens, etc.
• Conduct daily checks on printers and wireless connectivity

Hardware Support

• Assist with desktops, laptops, printers, photocopiers
• Install and configure IT equipment
• Classroom projector setups

Software Support

• Install and update software (e.g., Microsoft Office)
• Troubleshoot software issues
• Manage software licensing records

Administration & Documentation

• Log IT support calls on the Service Desk
• Maintain hardware and software asset registers
• Assist with asset disposal and transfer documentation
• Report on copier and phone usage

General IT Duties

• Maintain neatness of ICT offices and server rooms
• Monitor sign-in/sign-out process for ICT equipment

Learning & Development

• Shadow Senior ICT staff
• Gain exposure to server troubleshooting and IT operations

Minimum Requirements

• Qualification:
  • Higher Certificate / Occupational Certificate (NQF Level 5)
  • OR A+ Certification (or equivalent)
• Experience:
  • No prior work experience needed—ideal for recent graduates
• Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good computer literacy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Time management and organizational skills
