Main Purpose of the Job
The primary purpose of the Artisan role at Mediclinic George is to ensure that all equipment, plant, buildings, and services remain functional and operational in the safest and most cost-effective way, supporting the hospital’s core functions.
Key Responsibilities
As an Artisan, your responsibilities will include:

Performing Technical Jobs:
Carry out technical tasks related to maintaining the hospital’s equipment, plant, and infrastructure, ensuring they remain in optimal working condition. -
Performing Administrative Duties:
Handle administration duties related to the technical function, such as maintenance schedules, equipment logs, and compliance with relevant policies and safety standards. -
Identifying and Mitigating Technical Risks:
Proactively assess and manage technical risks within the hospital environment, addressing any potential issues before they escalate. -
Coordinating Work by On-site Contractors:
Oversee contractors working at the facility, ensuring that all work complies with hospital regulations and meets Mediclinic’s standards. -
Maintaining Stakeholder Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and coordination of technical work.

Trade Test Certification (e.g., Fitter, Turner, Millwright, or Air-conditioning Artisan)

Required Experience
Essential Minimum Experience:

More than 8 years of experience in an artisan role (Fitter, Turner, Millwright, or Air-conditioning Artisan), with multi-skilled expertise.
Desired Experience:

More than 3 years’ experience working at Mediclinic (preferably).
Required Job Skills and Knowledge

Trade-Specific Skills and Knowledge:
Proficiency relevant to the role (mechanical, electrical, air-conditioning, etc.), including fault-finding and troubleshooting. -
Knowledge of Policies and Guidelines:
Understanding of trade-specific policies, procedures, and safety regulations. -
Planned Maintenance:
Experience in planned maintenance and adhering to Mediclinic’s standards. -
Safety and Environmental Knowledge:
Knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental standards (e.g., OHS, ISO). -
Computer Literacy:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office. -
Multi-Skilled:
Ability to work in a hospital environment and across multiple technical functions. -
Mentoring:
Ability to mentor and guide team members to develop their technical skills.
