Job Description:

The Compliance Intern will assist in monitoring and providing assurance on the adherence to compliance practices throughout the OUTsurance Southern Africa Operations to ensure compliance risks are effectively managed and reported across the organization.


Key Outputs:

  • Assist with monitoring compliance risks and determining the state of compliance in various business units.

  • Ensure that all regulatory and compliance risks are identified, managed, mitigated, and reported on.

  • Assist with executing the compliance monitoring plan.

  • Record non-compliance matters identified and follow through on the agreed recommendations.

  • Foster and maintain good working relationships with internal stakeholders and contribute meaningfully to these engagements.

  • Collaborate with Combined Assurance departments (Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Quality Assurance) to avoid duplication of efforts and improve efficiencies. Raise compliance issues through appropriate channels for investigation and resolution.

  • Provide input and ensure accurate reporting and articulation of compliance risks.

  • Advise and/or provide input to internal stakeholders on possible contraventions of compliance risks through early detection.


ADHOC Duties:

You may be requested to perform the following as business needs arise:

  • Provide support on legislative compliance matters and assist with the implementation, development, and maintenance of the Compliance Risk Management Framework.

  • Analyze current and forthcoming regulations, proposals, and legislation and provide detailed analysis.

  • Support Compliance Officers in responding to compliance matters and resolving queries.

  • Assist Compliance Officers in drafting input to influence proposed legislative changes and projects initiated by regulators and industry bodies.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Legal or Auditing.

To qualify for the INSETA Internship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen.

  • Not have previously been part of an internship/learnership with INSETA.

  • Be between the ages of 18 & 35.

  • Have been unemployed in the last 2 months.
