MARKETING MANAGER

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

The International School of Cape Town (ISCT) is seeking a dynamic and strategic Marketing Manager to lead, plan, and implement all aspects of the school’s marketing and communications. This hands-on role combines strategic oversight with daily execution and is responsible for managing internal and external marketing and brand strategies, developing compelling content, and upholding the school’s brand.


Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement an annual marketing and communications plan aligned with the school’s strategic priorities.

  • Promote the school’s unique offerings, achievements, and values to current families, prospective families, and the broader community.

  • Identify marketing opportunities based on enrolment trends, feedback, and digital engagement analytics.

Brand Management & Design

  • Ensure consistent use of the school’s brand, logo, colours, fonts, and tone of voice across all platforms and materials.

  • Create and manage visual and written content for print and digital media (e.g., brochures, signage, newsletters).

  • Work with external designers or suppliers when specialised design or print work is needed.

Digital & Social Media Management

  • Manage the school’s website, keeping content updated, user-friendly, and aligned with SEO best practices.

  • Oversee the school’s social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Instagram), including content planning, design, posting, and engagement.

  • Monitor online presence and reputation, responding appropriately to comments, reviews, or public queries.

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Capture and share stories reflecting school culture, academic achievement, community events, and learner success.

  • Photograph and document school events, maintaining a well-organised photo and video archive.

  • Draft copy for newsletters, social media captions, marketing materials, and press releases.

Event Promotion & Support

  • Coordinate marketing aspects of key school events (e.g., Open Days, performances, fundraisers).

  • Prepare signage, invitations, and promotional materials to support attendance and engagement.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Support communication with current families via newsletters, WhatsApp broadcasts, and the parent portal.

  • Liaise with academic staff, admissions, and leadership to stay informed of upcoming activities and communication needs.

  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, media, and community partners where needed.


Preferred Attributes:

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to independently execute day-to-day tasks.

  • Excellent communication, writing, and proofreading skills.

  • Creative eye for layout, visuals, and presentation.

  • Skilled in social media and digital content tools (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp, Meta Business Suite).

  • Ability to balance multiple deadlines with flexibility and initiative.

  • Friendly, professional, and approachable manner reflecting the ethos of a school environment.

  • Strong understanding of how to communicate with both prospective and current parents.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in a marketing, communications, or school-facing role.

  • Experience in an independent school or education context is advantageous.

  • Proficient in MS Office, Google Workspace, and basic graphic/design platforms.


Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position during school terms; some flexibility required for evening/weekend events.

  • May be asked to attend Open Days or key school events outside of standard hours.

  • Expected to take photographs and attend school functions regularly.
