The Music Teacher role is pivotal in nurturing students’ musical skills, fostering creativity, and inspiring a lifelong love for music. This position allows the teacher to work with both Junior and Senior College students, guiding them through a variety of musical activities, from theoretical learning to practical performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Directing Ensembles: Lead and direct music groups such as Marimba bands, Choirs, and other school musical ensembles.

  • Music Theory Instruction: Teach students to read and understand music theory at varying levels.

  • Concerts and Events: Organize and run school concerts and other musical events throughout the year.

  • Performance and Composition: Apply your experience in performance, composition, and conducting to inspire students and lead them in musical performances.

  • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement a dynamic music curriculum for both Junior and Senior College students.

  • Fostering Creativity: Encourage students to explore their creativity through musical expression and collaboration.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications in Music: A recognized qualification in Music Education or a related field.

  • Experience: Previous experience teaching music at both Junior and Senior College levels.

  • SACE Registration: Must be registered with SACE (South African Council for Educators).

  • Ensemble Direction: Ability to train and direct musical ensembles, such as Marimba bands and Choirs.

  • Music Theory: Ability to teach music theory and provide students with the tools to read and understand music.

  • Event Management: Experience in running school concerts and other musical events.

  • Performance and Composition Skills: Experience in performance, composition, and conducting is highly valued.

  • Police Clearance: Must provide a Police Clearance Certificate.
