Job Summary:
Southdowns College, part of the ADvTECH Group, seeks to appoint a Head of Department – Sport to lead and manage the school’s sports programme. This leadership role involves managing coaches, facilities, and events while fostering a vibrant, inclusive sporting culture aligned with the College’s values.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide strong leadership to coaches and sports department staff

Design and implement dynamic sports programs that promote student growth and participation

Oversee scheduling of practices, matches, and inter-school competitions
-
Ensure effective use of sports facilities and proper management of equipment
-
Promote a culture of sportsmanship, inclusivity, and teamwork
-
Monitor and evaluate athletic performance and team development
-
Collaborate on inter-school sports events and community engagement
-
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
-
Maintain accurate records of activities, budgets, and department resources

Keep abreast of best practices in coaching, athlete development, and safety standards
Qualifications and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)

5+ years of experience in coaching or sports administration
-
Proven leadership and team management capabilities
-
Excellent communication and organisational skills
-
Strong knowledge of sports safety, rules, and regulations
-
Experience working with athletes of various skill levels
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sports management software
-
CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
