Programme Synopsis

The IDC Internship Programme provides a 24-month, customised, structured, and supervised workplace experience to unemployed graduates. Interns gain real work exposure, mentorship from seasoned professionals, networking opportunities, and a carefully designed training plan.


Objectives (Key Performance Areas)

  • Build a talent pipeline for IDC business areas and priority sectors.

  • Provide unemployed graduates with competencies for employability.

  • Enable graduates to network and explore career paths within the Corporation.

  • Help graduates apply academic knowledge in a real work environment.


Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • South African citizen, under 35 years of age.

  • Completed qualification (see list below).

  • Not currently studying at any institution.

  • Not currently on / previously registered for any Learnership or Internship.

  • Effective English (written & verbal) communication skills.

  • Willing to undergo competency-based interviews and all pre-employment checks (criminal record, qualifications, citizenship).

  • Successful candidates must sign a 24-month fixed-term contract.


Eligible Qualifications

(Any of the following completed qualifications)

  • Accounting / Finance:

    • BCom Accounting / Financial Management (Management Accounting) / Financial Accounting

    • BTech Cost & Management Accounting

    • CTA and Honours in Finance or Accounting

  • Law:

    • BCom (Law) / LLB

  • Quant / Risk / Finance Modelling:

    • Honours in Mathematical Finance / Financial Engineering / Quantitative Risk / Finance / Financial Modelling / Actuarial Science / Financial Econometrics / Mathematical Economics

  • Engineering / Built Environment / Science:

    • BEng Industrial Engineering

    • BSc Environmental Science / Construction / Civil Engineering

    • National Diploma in Engineering (ASA registration advantageous for Plant & Machinery)

    • BSc Engineering Mechanical / Electrical (ECSA registration advantageous)

    • National Diploma in Real-Estate Valuation or BSc Property Studies (SACPVP Candidate Valuer advantageous – Land & Buildings)

  • Information / Records / Data / Media:

    • Honours Information Science / Records Management / Information Management

    • BA or Postgrad / Advanced Diploma in Journalism, Brand Communication, Media Studies

    • Data Science

    • Information Management or Records

  • Human Resources / Psychology / Education:

    • BCom / BA Human Resource Management

    • Diploma Human Resources Management / Development

    • Degree or Diploma in Education

    • BA / BCom Psychology

    • Master’s in Psychology

Placement
