About the Internship

This internship offers an exciting opportunity for a Chemistry graduate to gain hands-on experience in biorefinery processes within a research and development setting. Interns will work closely with researchers and engineers in cross-functional teams, contributing to the development of innovative products and competitive technologies.


Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of senior researchers, the intern will:

  • Analyse and interpret experimental data

  • Learn about biorefinery systems for industrial use

  • Prepare chemical reagents and conduct general chemistry experiments

  • Compile technical reports and contribute to project documentation

  • Assist in planning and executing laboratory experiments

  • Support inventory and equipment management

  • Help develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Take ownership of laboratory responsibilities


Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • National Diploma in Chemistry

  • Strong interest in hands-on lab work and equipment handling

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • A results-driven, motivated individual and a team player

  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and perform under pressure

  • SAQA evaluation for foreign qualifications (required if applicable)
