Clifton Nottingham Road invites applications for a Learning Support/Remedial Specialist.
Clifton Preparatory School is an independent, co-educational school offering classes from Grade 000 to Grade 7, with the option of weekly and termly boarding. Founded in 1942, the school is set on a picturesque 64-hectare estate in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.
We are seeking an innovative and passionate Learning Support/Remedial Specialist to join our dynamic in-house Learning Support Team. The successful candidate will provide academic and emotional support to Junior and Senior Primary children, as well as manage individual learning profiles. Key Responsibilities:

Teaching small group Literacy and Numeracy lessons during the school day

Providing in-class and afternoon academic support
-
Keeping records of planning and progress tracking
-
Writing reports and managing individual learning support profiles
-
Providing emotional support to children as needed
-
Supporting teachers in managing children with academic and emotional difficulties

Assessing children and implementing appropriate support
-
Liaising with teachers, therapists, and parents
-
Arranging and overseeing exam concessions
-
Facilitating staff development workshops
-
Attending staff, phase, round-table, and specialist meetings
-
Working closely with the learning support coordinator and phase heads
Requirements:
-
A relevant university teaching degree and a professional qualification in remedial and/or inclusive education, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, or psychology

Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a remedial or therapeutic role in a primary school setting

Strong understanding of and passion for supporting children with learning barriers

Experience providing emotional support and administering standardised tests

Competency in managing individual learning profiles

Up-to-date understanding of inclusive teaching strategies and CAPS curriculum

Knowledge of exam concessions and accommodations
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Proven innovation, professionalism, and motivation in educational settings

SACE registration, police clearance, and sexual offenders clearance certificate
-
Strong communication, organisational, and computer literacy skills
-
Familiarity with Time2Read and NumberSense programmes (advantageous)
