Role Purpose:
Perform transportation and sales tasks related to delivering bread and confectionery. The driver will serve customers (traders and retail stores), take orders, deliver products (often for cash), and work towards acquiring new customers.
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Valid Code 10 Driver’s License and valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

Good numeracy skills
-
Minimum 2 years driving experience in FMCG delivery and sales, including cash handling and customer interaction
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle and Dress Code:
-
Maintain clean vehicle and personal hygiene standards
-
Use prescribed PPE and keep driving compartment clean and safe
-
Conduct vehicle checks using company checklists and report faults
-
Report accidents, theft, and damages promptly
-
Arrange for replacement vehicle if needed
Stock and Loading:
-
Verify loaded stock matches orders and sign off on loading sheets
-
Ensure safe and secure loading for road safety
-
Inspect stock quality and report issues
-
Assist with loading as required
Van Assistants:
-
Supervise and train van assistants
-
Ensure van assistant attendance and appropriate conduct
-
Report any performance issues
Sales and Customer Relations:
-
Be friendly, respectful, and helpful to customers
-
Seek opportunities to increase sales and new customers
-
Report any customer service issues or potential losses
-
Liaise regularly with customers to maintain service levels
-
Implement promotions when required
Deliveries:
-
Ensure correct stock delivery as per customer orders
-
Manage stock shortages and communicate proactively
-
Secure next day orders and deliver or collect additional items
-
Recover crates daily and monitor losses
Transactional Duties:

Safeguard cash, paperwork, and stock
-
Handle cash deposits and be vigilant against counterfeit notes
-
Complete all delivery documentation accurately

Reconcile stock sold with cash received and investigate shortages
Competitor Analysis:

Collect information on competitor sales, customers, and products
General:
-
Assist in other business areas as required, including van assistant duties

Comply with health and safety standards
-
Report any health issues affecting driving
