Position Available: Afrikaans First Additional Language Teacher (Grade 8–12)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Afrikaans First Additional Language to Grades 8–12 in accordance with the IEB curriculum

  • Prepare learners for NSC (IEB) examinations, ensuring high academic standards and learner success

  • Develop engaging and relevant lesson plans that foster language development and cultural appreciation

  • Implement differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs

  • Participate in subject-specific professional development and curriculum planning

  • Contribute to the academic, cultural, and extracurricular life of the school


Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in education or related field with Afrikaans as a major; a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification is essential

  • Experience: Proven experience teaching Afrikaans FAL to Grades 8–12, preferably in an IEB environment

  • Skills: Strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills

  • Registration: SACE registration (or eligibility to register before employment begins)
