Position Overview
AISJ seeks compassionate, proactive, and experienced Boarding House Parents (BHP) to support our boarding students (ages 12–18) in creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive “home away from home.” Ideal candidates will have prior residential or boarding experience, especially in international or diverse settings, and strong knowledge of safeguarding practices.
Key Responsibilities
Pastoral Care & Student Wellbeing

Build trusting relationships with students and maintain a visible, supportive presence

Monitor students’ emotional, physical, and social wellbeing

Help students adapt to boarding life and promote healthy routines
-
Foster a culture of respect, accountability, and inclusivity
Supervision & Safety
-
Be on-call overnight during duty shifts
-
Ensure health and safety compliance, including room checks and emergency response
-
Provide first aid when needed and coordinate with guardians or medical services

Participate in rotating weekend duty schedules
Community Building & Communication
-
Attend regular meetings with students, BHPs, and pastoral care teams

Communicate effectively with parents regarding student wellbeing and progress

Help lead enrichment activities to support community life
House Operations & Administration

Keep accurate records (attendance, health, behaviour, communication)

Ensure shared spaces are clean and well-maintained

Report maintenance issues and assist with termly arrival/departure logistics
Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree (required); education or counselling qualification (preferred)

Experience in a boarding or residential setting with adolescents (essential)

CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection protocols

Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills

Technological proficiency (email, spreadsheets, school systems)

Calm, adaptable, and able to respond under pressure
