Internship Overview

The National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for its 24-month Internal Audit Internship Programme as part of its Internal Audit Technician Learnership.

  • Duration: 24 months

  • Stipend: R80,096.00 per annum

  • Start Date: To be confirmed after selection


Purpose of the Internship

To provide practical workplace experience and theoretical training to support the Internal Audit Unit in alignment with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Global Standards, while building a foundation for a future role as a certified Internal Audit Technician.


Minimum Requirements

  • A three-year tertiary qualification in Internal Auditing

  • Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage

  • Knowledge of IIA Global Standards

  • Basic understanding of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and other relevant legislation

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Good communication and report writing skills


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Open and maintain audit files and perform admin functions

  • Assist in compliance, IT, financial, and operational audits

  • Draft audit reports and document working papers

  • Support follow-up audits and ad hoc assignments

  • Perform daily admin tasks in support of the Internal Audit Unit

  • Address review notes and collaborate with senior internal auditors
