Job Description

St Stithians College invites applications for the above-mentioned position, available from 1 January 2026. This is a leadership opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced educator who brings passion, vision, and innovation to the English classroom.


Key Competencies & Responsibilities

  • A recognised degree and/or a 4-year professional teaching qualification

  • Minimum of 8 years’ teaching experience

  • Passion and vision for English education

  • Sound understanding of international trends in girls’ education and 21st-century learning

  • Experience in leading transformation and diversity within the curriculum

  • Strong planning, organisational and reporting skills

  • FET-level English teaching experience (Grade 10–12)

  • IEB school experience and NSC marking (advantageous)

  • Ability to guide students to reach their full potential

  • Inclusive and engaging classroom environment creation

  • Reflective teaching practice with ongoing improvement

  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills

  • Proficiency in technology and digital tools

  • Innovative learning and assessment programme design

  • Interest in cross-curricular and interdisciplinary learning

  • Willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school, including extramural activities

  • Alignment with the Christian ethos and mission of the College

  • Registration with SACE (South African Council for Educators)

  • Sexual offender’s clearance certificate (mandatory)
