AFRIKAANS AND LIFE ORIENTATION TEACHER

This is a full-time position and the successful candidate will report to the Academic Headmistress.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Being an enthusiastic and creative teacher able to create engaging lessons to stretch pupils’ abilities.

  • Having good IT skills and being comfortable using technology.

  • Having a thorough knowledge of IEB assessments.

  • Identifying with the core values of the school.

  • Demonstrating an ongoing commitment to professional growth.

  • Being involved in clubs and societies.

  • Being part of pastoral care structures, including being assigned a tutor group where the focus is on wellness and leadership.

  • Being involved with sports activities.

Requirements

The minimum requirements for the post are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Afrikaans (or similar).

  • A professional post-graduate teaching qualification.

  • Proof of SACE registration.

  • Police clearance.

  • A minimum of three years’ teaching experience in Afrikaans and Life Orientation in the Senior and FET phase, preferably at an IEB school.

  • A passion for sharing the language with students.
