Job Description

The Health and Safety Intern will support the implementation of health and safety initiatives at the Randfontein site. The role involves reporting hazards, conducting inspections, promoting HSE awareness, and ensuring compliance with SGS management systems and local regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report hazards, near misses, and incidents for the site.

  • Report monthly H&S KPIs.

  • Assist with the implementation of the H&S Top Page for the site.

  • Perform H&S inspections using checklists.

  • Prepare and monitor H&S checklists and training requirements.

  • Log hazards and BBS into the Crystal module.

  • Assist with risk assessments and facilitate medical surveillance programs.

  • Schedule and conduct H&S training and inductions.

  • Support implementation of SGS global H&S initiatives (e.g., Safety Month, Safe Talks, Rules for Life).

  • Assist during internal and external H&S audits.

  • Promote HSE awareness campaigns and communications.

  • Ensure adherence to all SGS management system safety requirements.

  • Perform any reasonable tasks aligned with the overall OI strategy.


Qualifications

Education:

  • SAMTRAC (completed or in progress).

  • Any HS&E short courses.

Requirements:

  • South African citizen with valid ID.

  • Aged between 18–30.

  • Currently unemployed.

  • No criminal record.

  • Willing to relocate to Randfontein.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong computer literacy (MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Data analysis and research skills.

  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency.

  • Exceptional organizational skills.

  • Self-motivated and proactive.
