Role Purpose
FlySafair is seeking a professional and highly disciplined Junior First Officer to ensure safe, efficient, and timely flight operations. The successful candidate will assist the Captain with all aspects of flight operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and service.
Key Responsibilities

Assist the Captain in conducting flights safely and efficiently

Monitor flight path, systems, instruments, and terrain clearance
-
Perform all flight checks as outlined in SOPs, FCOM, FCTM, and Operations Manuals
-
Navigate and operate the aircraft in compliance with national and international aviation regulations
-
Communicate with internal departments, ATC, ground services, and passengers
-
Complete all documentation and administrative duties accurately
-
Assist with pre-flight planning, including fuel requirements, route review, and weather conditions
-
Participate in post-flight procedures and submit relevant reports (e.g., IQSMS)
-
Maintain personal and crew discipline, professionalism, and appearance
-
Assume command in case of Captain incapacitation
Minimum Requirements
-
Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)
-
SACAA Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) (Essential)
-
SACAA Class 1 Medical Certificate (Essential)
-
SACAA ATPL (Preferred)
-
Type-rated on Boeing (Advantageous)
-
Total flying hours (minimum 1000)
-
PLUS any of the following combinations:
-
500 hours Twin Turbine (<10,000kg)
-
OR Boeing / Airbus Type Rated (incl. Level D Sim time)
-
OR 250 hours Jet/Turbine (>10,000kg)

Knowledge of:
-
SACAA, ICAO, and Doc 8168 regulations

Commercial and ATPL licensing content
-

Language Proficiency: ICAO Level 6

Other Requirements:

No criminal record

Valid RSA ID, Passport, and Driver’s License

Own reliable transport

Willing to work irregular hours / roster shifts
