Role Purpose
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will support St John’s strategic goals through strong partnerships with school leadership and departments. This mid-level role is essential in strengthening HR services and fostering a positive staff experience.
Key Responsibilities
Partnering & Advisory

Advise heads of departments and school management on HR strategy

Implement HR policies and ensure legal compliance
-
Support change initiatives and leadership development
-
Build relationships to foster a high-performance, learning-focused culture
Operational HR
-
Manage full recruitment cycle and onboarding

Provide performance management support
-
Coordinate training, coaching, and staff development
-
Manage HR systems and ensure accurate data processing
-
Provide payroll input and oversee compensation processes
-
Support employee wellness, satisfaction, and retention initiatives
Compliance & Risk

Maintain up-to-date HR policies and procedures

Identify and assess HR-related risks

Ensure compliance with labour laws and safeguarding policies

Stay abreast of employment law changes and advise leadership
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field
Experience
-
Minimum 3 years in a strategic HR role
-
Experience in educational, service, or non-profit sectors is advantageous
-
In-depth knowledge of South African labour law, employee relations, and HR best practices
