Requirements:

  • Qualifications:

    • A three-year National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.

    • General exposure to the communication or media environment is an advantage.

  • Skills and Experience:

    • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Exceptional organizing and planning skills.

    • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and in a team environment.

    • Strong multi-tasking abilities, event management, and working with databases and presentations.

    • Time management skills and proactive approach.

    • Understanding of government’s mandate and development communication.

    • Strong problem-solving, innovative, and results-oriented with attention to detail.

    • Ability to simplify technical information into accessible language.

    • Availability outside of standard office hours and for travel as needed.


Duties:

  • Provide support to the directorate on communication and engagement initiatives.

  • Assist in coordinating the daily rapid response system and monitor communication issues of concern.

  • Support various tasks within the directorate and assist with the implementation of communication interventions and record keeping.

  • Contribute to content development and support team members with up-to-date materials.

  • Liaise with other directorates within the organization.

  • Draft and repackage reports for submission and other related reports.

  • Provide administrative support to Rapid Response.

  • Write routine notes, memos, letters, and reports; collate inputs from various stakeholders.

  • Maintain files on SharePoint and implement new procedures for document tracking.

  • Coordinate internal and external meetings, appointments, and events.

  • Prepare agendas and take minutes during meetings, ensuring accurate action matrices.

  • Handle claims and budget cash flow information for the directorate.

  • Manage the leave register, leave plans, and rosters for the directorate.

  • Provide documents as needed for Internal Audit and maintain stock levels of office supplies.
