Job Description
Highbury Preparatory School seeks a qualified and passionate Grade One Learner Support Class teacher to provide remedial and learning support to students. The school values inclusivity and equal opportunity, giving preference to Employment Equity candidates.
Key Requirements & Skills

Degree in Education or Degree with additional Diploma in Education (Foundation Phase, post-graduate)
-
4+ years’ experience in remedial teaching in the Foundation Phase or remedial support
-
Specialised training/qualifications in Remedial or Special Needs Education
-
SACE registration
-
Criminal and Sexual Offenders Clearance Certificate

Passion for teaching boys and supporting children with barriers to learning

Strong administrative, organisational, report-writing, and communication skills

Ability to work effectively in a team with staff, parents, and associated therapists
Key Responsibilities

Teach Grade 1 Remedial Class and implement programmes aligned with the school’s strategic vision

Plan and implement an educational programme relevant to Grade 1 LSC, ensuring compliance with assessment criteria

Develop and adapt curriculum in line with governmental requirements

Stay updated on educational trends, best practices, and developments in teaching and learning support
-
Interpret and apply insights from Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Speech & Language reports
-
Track pupil progress and maintain accurate records

Work with online learner management systems (e.g., Google Classroom)
