Job Description
RCL Foods is seeking a Refrigeration Technician to join its Groceries Division in Randfontein. The successful candidate will perform skilled maintenance, installation, repair, and inspection of complex refrigeration equipment, ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.
Minimum Requirements
-
Category B8 Specialist Ammonia (R717) Refrigeration Practitioner
-
Valid Gas License from SAQCC
-
At least 5 years’ experience working in Ammonia plants (post-license)

Qualified artisan in Millwright, Electrician, or Refrigeration Technician
-
Willing to work standby and overtime when required
-
Must assist other departments when needed
-
Willing to work shifts
-
Must relocate to be available in case of emergency
Duties & Responsibilities
-
Plan and execute maintenance work according to schedules and breakdowns
-
Maintain and repair site-related equipment per maintenance plan
-
Assist handymen with faults beyond their competency level
-
Conduct daily inspections of facilities, buildings, and equipment

Manage, train, and develop maintenance handymen and assistants
-
Discipline and supervise subordinates as required

Issue daily job cards and inspect completed work

Perform standby duties as scheduled
Technical Expertise
-
Overhaul, strip, assemble, and maintain piston ammonia compressors
-
Experience with screw air compressors (Atlas Copco advantage)
-
Knowledge of bottle molding and blow molding equipment (preferred)
-
Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
-
Air-conditioning, refrigeration, and chiller systems maintenance
-
Work with cooling towers, circulation pumps, and heat exchangers (plate, shell & tube)
-
Copper pipe soldering and refrigeration system installations
-
Flexibility to assist at other RCL Foods sites when required
