About the Programme

The Department of Employment and Labour offers a 12-month Trainee Employment Counsellors Programme to equip unemployed graduates with practical work experience in employment counselling. Participants will gain skills in labour market research, recruitment, stakeholder networking, and client support.

Eligibility

• South African citizens

• Unemployed graduates with a minimum of 3 years relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology or Industrial Psychology

• Honours in Psychology or Industrial Psychology is an added advantage

• Preference for candidates registered with HPCSA as a Registered Counsellor or Psychometrist

• Must not have participated in a similar programme previously

• Provide administrative support to Employment Counsellors

• Conduct research on labour market needs and employment counselling best practices

• Assist with recruitment and selection services

• Network with stakeholders to ensure service quality

• Register and support work-seekers
