INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVE:
The purpose of this graduate opportunity is to provide exposure to the statutory control department that fulfils the control function on the national road network within the Western and Northern Cape Provinces. The intern will be introduced to the business processes, underlying legal provisions, and relevant factors considered in processing public applications. Experience will be gained by observing and interacting with personnel involved in these processes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Land Survey, Town and Regional Planning, or Paralegal qualification

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under supervision of the Statutory Control Officer, the intern will assist with:

Processing wayleave applications for services in the national road reserve (Section 48 of the Act)

Land subdivision applications (Section 49 of the Act)
-
Applications for outdoor advertising and removal of illegal advertisements (Section 50)
-
Applications and approvals for tourist-related road signage
-
Reporting of claims for damage to national roads
-
Engaging with project/route managers for input on application processing

Providing feedback to queries related to national road legislation
Placements will consider the applicant’s proximity to the relevant SANRAL office.
