Job Overview:
The Hall Head (HH) plays a vital role in overseeing the health, safety, and well-being of residential students across two halls at ALA. Reporting to the Head of Residence, the HH leads Resident Assistants (RAs), manages hall activities, and fosters community development and personal growth among students.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Well-Being & Safety

Maintain a clean, safe, and organised living environment with regular room checks.

Report maintenance and safety concerns promptly.

Monitor student health and refer medical/emotional issues as needed.

Enforce ALA’s safety, conduct, and responsibility policies.
Community Building
-
Promote an inclusive, engaged residence hall community.
-
Organise and lead hall meetings.
-
Support students through stress, homesickness, and challenges.
-
Encourage peer mentorship and positive relationships.
Student Leadership Development
-
Supervise and mentor Resident Assistants and student leaders.
-
Guide students in leadership, accountability, and community responsibility.

Conduct regular meetings with student leaders.
Program Support
-
Participate in evening, weekend, and long weekend duty rotations.

Maintain accurate student progress reports.
-
Engage in training, meetings, and professional development.
Student Success

Monitor student progress and maintain records.
-
Assist with individual education plans and reports.
-
Take part in community events like parents’ conferences and workshops.
-
Communicate with parents, year heads, and wellness teams effectively.
Teaching & Extracurricular Involvement (If Applicable)

May teach up to 20% of duties.

Participate in co-curricular activities, mentorship, and campus initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:

Essential: Bachelor’s degree (Education, Psychology, or related field).

Experience working with young adults in boarding/residential settings.
-
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
-
Commitment to student well-being, diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable: Postgraduate qualification; international education experience; knowledge of student development models.
