Key Purpose Statement
To guide students in developing foundational and abstract thinking skills in isiZulu through engaging, inclusive, and future-focused learning practices. The teacher will foster a safe and supportive learning environment, build positive relationships, and continuously improve through personal reflection and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Delivery (40%)

Deliver engaging and differentiated isiZulu lessons in line with the Crawford International academic pillars

Integrate technology, 21st-century skills, and personalised learning into teaching

Collaborate with colleagues to plan and reflect on best practices

Create and maintain a dynamic, inspiring classroom environment

Participate in co-curricular activities and school events
Academic Assessment & Reporting (20%)
-
Continuously assess student progress and maintain updated academic records
-
Use data-driven methods to inform teaching and support student growth

Complete formal assessments, reports, and contribute to academic standardisation and moderation

Participate in IEB or school-level academic assessments and review processes
Student Behaviour Management (10%)

Establish classroom rules and foster a respectful learning culture

Mentor students and support their personal and emotional development

Identify and support learners with barriers to learning, referring where necessary
School Brand Ambassadorship (10%)

Promote the Crawford International ethos, DNA, and values
-
Represent the school at open days, exhibitions, and events
-
Support professional development of interns or new staff when required

Contribute to school publications, social media, and community outreach
Administration (10%)

Follow the academic timetable and fulfil planning, resource, and administrative duties

Maintain and monitor classroom inventories and equipment

Assist with substitution, excursions, and other school duties as needed
Health & Safety (10%)

Ensure classroom and playground safety
-
Provide first aid when necessary and report incidents accordingly
-
Raise awareness of safety, health, and social issues among students
Minimum Qualifications
-
Degree (NQF Level 6) plus PGCE or B.Ed. in Intermediate/Intersen, Senior, or Foundation Phase
-
Valid SACE registration and police clearance
-
Valid driver’s licence
-
Willingness to teach across multiple learning areas if required
Desired Qualifications
-
Honours degree in Education or isiZulu
-
IB PYP training or equivalent international teaching exposure
-
Training in global competencies, inquiry-based learning, or digital literacy tools
Minimum Experience
-
3–5 years teaching experience (isiZulu preferred)
-
1-year teaching internship may be considered at Principal’s discretion
