🎯 Key Purpose
To deliver high-quality Afrikaans First or Additional Language instruction in the FET Phase (Grades 10–12) within a dynamic, future-focused learning environment. 📘 Core Responsibilities
1. Academic Delivery (40%)

Plan and deliver engaging Afrikaans lessons aligned with IEB and/or IB curriculum standards.

Design differentiated and inquiry-based learning opportunities tailored to student abilities and needs.

Foster a classroom environment that supports creativity, curiosity, and critical language acquisition.

Integrate digital tools and 21st-century teaching methodologies effectively into daily instruction.

Collaborate with colleagues to ensure cross-curricular coherence and student growth.
2. Assessment & Reporting (20%)
-
Use continuous assessment to track student progress using STASY and personal markbooks.

Compile academic reports, offer constructive feedback, and contribute to formal IEB assessments and moderation.

Engage in data-driven instruction and provide remedial or enrichment support when needed.
-
Participate in assessment moderation, cluster marking, and exam preparation processes.
3. Learner Support & Classroom Management (15%)
-
Foster discipline, mutual respect, and a positive learning environment aligned with the Crawfordology philosophy.

Provide pastoral support and mentorship to enhance student well-being and motivation.

Identify learning barriers early and collaborate with support staff to implement interventions.
4. School Involvement & Brand Ambassadorship (15%)

Actively contribute to school life, including cultural events, open days, exhibitions, and extracurricular activities.

Promote the Crawford brand internally and externally with professionalism and enthusiasm.

Support the development of student teachers and interns as part of the school’s professional learning community.

Write content for newsletters, school publications, and digital platforms where applicable.
5. Administration (10%)

Assist with excursion planning, classroom setup, substitution, and academic calendar planning.

Ensure compliance with internal policies and maintain the Afrikaans department’s resources and learning space.

Participate in meetings, training, and curriculum planning sessions.

📑 Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) with a major in Afrikaans
-
PGCE / HDE or B.Ed in FET Phase
-
Valid SACE registration
-
Police clearance certificate

3–5 years teaching Afrikaans FET Phase
-
Familiarity with IEB curriculum and Matric marking

Experience with IB or enquiry-based learning methods

First Aid certification (advantageous)
