About the Role

Brescia House School, an independent Catholic day school for girls in Bryanston, is seeking a High School Laboratory Technician to start in January 2026 (or negotiable). The role involves supporting the Physical and Life Sciences departments (Grades 7–12), maintaining the laboratory environment, and assisting with experiments and demonstrations. The successful candidate will show initiative, creativity, and a commitment to personal and professional growth.


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Lab Technician in a school

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  • Relevant recognised degree or formal qualification

  • SACE registration and teaching ability advantageous

  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques, chemical handling, storage, and disposal

  • First aid trained

  • Confident to demonstrate experiments and design innovative practical demonstrations

  • Team player, adaptable, able to cope under pressure


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Test and set up lab equipment, use machinery and software for experiments

  • Maintain glassware, order and inventory new equipment

  • Ensure successful experiments, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and call for repairs as needed

  • Document laboratory activities and maintain equipment logs

  • Attend department meetings and assist with teaching lessons

  • Take ownership of the laboratory environment, ensuring safety and efficiency
