What Does the Programme Involve?
The Michaelhouse Teacher Internship Programme offers full involvement in all aspects of life at a full-time boys’ boarding school, including:

Teaching practice and classroom-based training

Pastoral care responsibilities (boarding house, tutoring, bus duties)

Year-round coaching of musical ensembles

Participation in cultural activities, clubs and societies

Community outreach initiatives

Ongoing mentorship and performance development, with regular evaluations

Requirements – What Do You Need to Qualify?
Prospective Music Teacher Interns should:

Be 21 years or older
-
Be currently studying or have completed a Bachelor of Music, with the intention of pursuing a PGCE
-
Be passionate about teaching Music and committed to lifelong learning
-
Have experience or interest in leading music ensembles (e.g., orchestras, bands, choirs, marimbas)
-
Ability to play and teach saxophone (advantageous)
-
Align with the Christian values and ethos of the school
-
Possess excellent communication and collaboration skills
-
Have a clear criminal record
-
Live on campus and be involved in residential life – therefore, male candidates are preferred
Intern Commitment
As an intern, you are expected to:

Commit to a 1-year fixed-term contract (performance-based)

Be actively involved in school life and seize learning opportunities
-
Take responsibility for your academic performance and development
-
Work closely with your mentors in the Music department
