Job Advert Summary
The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for maintenance, repairs, and mechanical support across fleet, workshop, and agricultural operations. Work includes hydraulic systems, agricultural machinery, generators, and plant equipment. The role ensures efficient operations, asset availability, cost effectiveness, and adherence to safety and legislative standards. This position reports to the Maintenance Foreman.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
-
Mechanical Fitter trade test or equivalent qualification.

Fitter and Turner qualification advantageous.

Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance (agricultural or industrial environment preferred).
Skills & Abilities

Strong mechanical fitting and fault-finding skills.

Proficiency in hydraulic systems and mechanical assemblies.
-
Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals.
-
Skilled with hand and power tools.
-
High attention to detail, proactive and solution-oriented.

Ability to work independently or in a team.
-
Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to breakdowns.
Physical Requirements

Prolonged standing/walking.

Duties and Responsibilities
Supervisory Duties
-
Mentor junior maintenance staff or apprentices.
-
Support team coordination and task execution under the guidance of the Maintenance Foreman and/or Planner.
Operational Duties
-
Report equipment status and needs to the Maintenance Foreman.

Perform fitting, maintenance, and repairs on:

Agricultural machinery
-
Packhouse equipment
-
Hydraulic systems
-
Forklifts and fleet vehicles

Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults (root cause analysis).

Conduct planned and reactive maintenance to reduce downtime.

Fabricate and install mechanical components.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and assist with CMMS.

Work with technicians and production teams to ensure reliability.

Adhere to SHEQ standards at all times.

Support the training and development of junior staff.
