About the Role

St Stithians College is looking for a qualified Afrikaans Teacher to join their Junior Preparatory School on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching Afrikaans at a foundation phase level, with an emphasis on integrating modern educational practices and aligning with the IEB requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Afrikaans at a foundation phase level.

  • Develop learning and teaching materials, as well as assessment practices according to IEB standards.

  • Facilitate small group activities under the direction of the class teacher.

  • Participate in the broader life of the school.

  • Work collaboratively within a committed team of educators.


Requirements:

  • A suitable professional qualification in education.

  • Experience in teaching Afrikaans at a foundation phase level.

  • Experience in developing learning and teaching materials according to IEB standards (advantageous).

  • Strong knowledge and passion for the Afrikaans language.

  • A future-orientated approach to teaching and learning.

  • Computer literacy and an interest in integrating IT into teaching.

  • A sound understanding of the South African curriculum and international trends in education.

  • Excellent people and organizational skills.

  • Willingness to work within the values and Methodist Christian ethos of the school.

  • SACE registration and sexual offender’s clearance certificate.
